In this workshop, we made 2 versions of lip balms. One is the standard moisturizing lip balm in plain yellow and the other is a tinted reddish pink version. Lip balm is actually an essential thing to have when you travel to cold countries. The weather can make your lips so dry till they crack. So, better gear yourself up with some moisturizing lip balms before you fly for your holidays.
Next, we also looked at what Soap Nuts is, where it came from, who it is great for and how to use it. The ladies were all amazed that this fruit can release suds and clean!
Here are some photos to share.
First we learn how to make our own organic lip balms. And the ingredients we use are high quality and certified organic beeswax, cocoa butter, coconut oil, Vitamin E Oil and Essential oil. All these ingredients are chosen for their moisturizing benefits.
It is important that the amount of ingredient measured is accurate. And therefore Sun had to slowly measure out the right amount.
And over here, Judy carefully measured the required amount of organic coconut oil.
Next, let’s melt the ingredients.
And then we put in more nourishing ingredients. For a moment, it looked like we were back in chemistry class isn’t it?
Angeline carefully drip in the Vitamin E Oil, drop by drop.
Next is Wati’s turn. This class is so full of jokes. Look at the laughing faces!
Alright ladies, with our steady hands, let’s do the pouring.
Well, perhaps this is the most challenging part of making the lip balms. But most satisfying, to me.
Aren’t these lip balms beautiful? The reddish lip balm actually tints your lip like a pink gloss. And if you are wondering if that is artificial red color, don’t worry, that red actually came from a real herb.
Judy carefully fills the lip balm tubes to the brim.
And we have Sun here with her steady hand doing the pouring.
Mint fills the tube to the brim with much ease.
After the lip balm has set, let’s add something to make our lip balm tubes to make it more personal.
This is lovely Susan and me. 🙂
I love Angeline’s decoration. Nice!
Mint is so creative and did some decoration that I didn’t even think of.
Here’s our group shot! Lynn, you are so cute!
Good job ladies!
Now the freshly made lip balms are ready for use!
I had a great time with you ladies. I hope this session was fun and relaxing for you too. 🙂
Now all of you can make and sell your own lip balms already! Hahah!
By making your own lip balms, you can choose what goes into it. I am glad I can share this awareness and the how-to with you.
Thank you Helen for inviting me and organizing the session despite your busy schedule. I really appreciate your help during the session. I am very thankful that I was there and it was great knowing you and the beautiful ladies!
We had a truly enjoyable time.
Hmm… thought I would like a picture of myself with the giant SPH logo for rememberance. Hahaha!
Hi, our organisation (MINDS) are doing social enterprise and am exploring making various products for sales. We are keen to learn more about making Soap and Lip Balm, is there any opportunity that we can learn from you?
Hi Lee Cheng

Thank you!
