Skin Tightening Egg Facial Mask

15 Feb 2010 | Skincare Recipes | 1 comment

Egg Mask has been known to be able to tighten and smooth the skin. And this is true! I would recommend that you try this for yourself.

1. Use one egg white, whisk till you get it to froth.
2. Apply on face and neck and leave it for 20 minutes. (I would recommend using a facial brush to apply. It will be much easier and less messy.)
3. Rinse off with water
** Do not smile, talk or move your facial muscle. Or else there might be wrinkles.

The feeling was truly amazing, though the smell is a little raw. At the beginning, I felt my skin being pulled and lifted up, especially around the cheeks.  About 10 minutes later, I actually felt I needed some effort to move my facial muscles. My skin felt so tight and taut that any attempt to move any facial muscle felt as if I’m going to shatter my skin into pieces!

At the end of 20 minutes, the egg white dried up on my face. It felt like a thin crust has formed and held my face tightly together. Out of curiosity,  I moved my facial muscles with some effort and the thin crust cracked into MILLIONS of pieces! (Yes I know I’m not supposed to do that. =P)

After rinsing with water, my face felt cleansed, firm and smooth. =D

Some notes to add on – Some people wrote that if your skin is dry, you should smear some honey on your skin before spreading.  And if you have oily skin, half a teaspoon of lemon juice may be added to the egg white.

Just a caution on the use of lemon juice on your skin. The juice of the lemon and other citrus fruits react to strong lighting and can form black spots or blemishes on your skin.

I had this experience where a small dark spot appeared on my right hand. I suspected it must be the large amount of lemon juice that my hand came into contact with and the strong studio light that was just beside me during the production shoot of me making my fruit enzyme. I needed to cut lots of lemon and other citrus fruits and the studio light definitely didn’t help. A few weeks later, I noticed the blemish on my right hand.

In all cases, if you are applying something that contains lemon or other citrus juice, try to avoid exposing the skin to strong light. A good way is to apply before you go to sleep at night.
